Dear Campaign Partner,
We are delighted to inform you that your organization has been selected as one of 2016 OC Free Tax Prep Campaign applicants to receive a VITA/FSA stipend! The stipend of $2,000 is provided to support the preparation and delivery of free tax services during the 2016 filing season. We are in the process of preparing official grant agreements and they will be distributed soon.
As you already know, the Orange County Free Tax Prep Campaign for Filing Season 2016 goals include:
1. Exceeding the number of clients served from last season; per location and county-wide.
- · We have set the bar at a minimum of 150 filings per site, and know that many of you have already far exceed this minimum! The stipend can assist in setting your site up for success and getting the word out.
2. Increasing the quality and accuracy of filings, thereby minimizing the number of rejected e-filed returns/need for amended returns.
- · Ensuring that your team is well- trained and comfortable in their roles is key to swift problem solving and high quality customer service. Remember, you will need to secure at least four (4) committed volunteers for free tax event(s); so please make sure that your agency staff and volunteers are connected to us for training and certification information.
3. Increasing the number of low income taxpayers in the county filing on their own using MyFreeTaxes.com.
- · Become familiar with the updated MyFreeTaxes website at http://www.unitedway.org/myfreetaxes/ and help get the word out to the community. To register as a MyFreeTaxes partner, click Partner Login on the left-hand side and Click Create an account. You will then receive an automated authentication email. Please click the link to verify your email address to confirm your registration. After you confirm, you will be able to access the MyFreeTaxes partner portal. You will then be able to access a social media kit, customizable marketing materials, geographic-level data reports during the tax season, and more.
To reach our collective goals, Orange County United Way will support you with campaign communication and advertising materials, volunteer recruitment and training, and other support throughout the season. Please stay tuned for more information on these topics.
